We must not forget about Satan. He is clearly implicated in Job’s grief and sufferings (2:7) and is also, therefore, the cause of much suffering in this world. The Book of Job is not alone in attributing sickness and disaster to the devil. The New Testament gives other examples of Satan’s power to afflict people’s bodies (Luke 13:16; Acts 10:38; 2 Cor. 12:7).
